OVERVIEW:
This joint is as close to Apache Junction as anything that's occupied the space over the course of the last 10 years. If you're coming from out of town and aren't sure where it is, here's a helpful clue. It's the spot that used to be Ivy, used to be Bar Rosso, used to be Cavalli, and is presently Avenue 29. Heavy Burger and Avenue 29 kinda sorta split the property. They share the kitchen and bathroom facilities. Heavy Burger is on the covered patio; Avenue 29 is inside. The concept was conceived by Mark Panunzio, a former attorney who evidently has a very open fondness for music. Panunzio is always on-site (just look for the trademark ski-cap) and will not only listen to all suggestions and comments from his guests, but he practically craves the feedback. The burgers come out piping-hot, are mouth-watering, and come in many varieties. The black angus burger I ordered on a recent visit was cooked to perfection, big, and quite juicy. Lots of apps from which to choose, and they're tasty, if not exceptionally artery-clogging. You know, fries, buffalo wings, chicken tenders slathered in sweet, thick sauces.
